The Workhouse and Infirmary - Atmospheric Victorian workhouse

If you love history and are interested in the way in which people used to live, you will love the Workhouse and Infirmary in Southwell in Nottinghamshire. Part of The National Trust, these buildings show just what it was like for poor Victorian people who sought refuge here in the 1840’s. Visit One of the ‘Oldest Pubs’ in England

It’s thirsty work keeping busy over the summer so if you are looking for somewhere to rest and refresh, why not try one of the oldest local pubs? There are several pubs in Nottingham which claimed to be the oldest in England including Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, leaning on Castle Rock (1650 - 1660), Ye Olde Salutation, Hounds Gate (1240) and The Bell Inn on Friar Lane (1271). Regardless of which pub is the oldest, these pubs are all steeped in history and some even claim to be haunted!
