If you are looking for some activities for yourself and your family to enjoy over the holidays, we have you covered. There is so much to do in the Nottinghamshire area and lots of fun for all the family, so read on for our ideas on what to do this Summer.
Evening Delights
The Riverside Festival | August 5th – 7th
The Riverside Festival is back! Like most large events, this festival has had a two year absence but is now back bigger and better than before. Taking place on the Victoria Embankment, this festival includes a fairground which is a mile long, plenty of food and drink, music and a firework display in the evening.
All the Fun of the Fair
Goose Fair | September 30th – October 9th
Another favourite which is back on the horizon after two years is Goose Fair which will be held over 10 days instead of the usual 5 day event. With free admission and no restrictions, this popular attraction is perfect If you don’t want the fun to end and are looking for something to do a little bit later in the year. This event originated as a livestock trade fair, hence the name but is now a well-known fairground.
Theatre’s & Live Shows
Belvoir Castle | Throughout the Summer Months
This location is the perfect backdrop for a series of theatre events including West Side Story, Mamma Mia and Rocky Horror, all taking place this Summer. Much Ado About Murder will keep you in suspense as you try to solve the mystery on the 13th August and an adaptation of David Walliams ‘Awful Auntie’ will be presented on the 21st August.
Science & Imagination
Green’s Windmill | Free Admission
Aside from being a beautiful working windmill, this site also contains a museum and a science centre to get your little ones brains ticking and contains the work of mathematician George Green, whose father built the mill in 1807. Since then, this windmill has become a popular attraction with kids and adults alike and contains various events and activities throughout the year.
Food & Drink
Oscar & Rosie's | 8 Stoney Street, NG1 1LP
If you want a dining experience to suit the whole family, then we think pizza is the perfect choice! This isn’t just any old pizza though as all ingredients are fresh, free range, locally sourced with all toppings made from scratch. While people often ask what makes their pizza so good, Oscar & Rosie’s reply is “It’s no-one thing, It's a just a lot of little details and care.". This place contains a bar for the adults and children are made welcome up until 8pm.
