Summer has arrived at long last and the weather has been amazing. If the recent weather has made you look at your home and garden in a different light and given you the motivation to get organised, here is our summer home and garden maintenance advice! Let’s get started.
Check Your Fire & Carbon Monoxide Alarms
We are adding this to our list because it’s important but please don’t leave this until your summer maintenance cycle. Fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarm batteries should be tested weekly. Both alarms should have a test button that beeps when pressed to let you know they are working correctly.
Check for Water Damage
Now is a good time to check in and around your house at your pipes, radiators and any signs of water damage which could become a bigger problem if they are left until the winter months. Look for any dampness on the interior or exterior walls or any drips or puddles around the plumbing and pipes.
De-Clutter
A good de-clutter can work wonders for your home and garden all year round but summer is motivating in itself, making it a great time to get rid of the old clutter. If you have a lot of things you don’t want but are too good to throw away, now is the perfect time of year for a boot sale to recycle your old things.
Time for a Power wash!
The difference between power washing and not doing it is huge and can really make your patios and outside areas look brand new. If the inside looks at little tired too, you could re-grout tiles or hire a carpet cleaner to breathe new life into your home at the same time.
Wash Windows Inside & Out
We all love the sun and the joy it brings but it also shows up every mark and smear on the windows of your home. Wash your windows inside and out to make your home sparkle this summer.
