SPRING ACTIVITIES ON A BUDGET FOR THE FAMILY

Spring Activities on a Budget for the Family

Are you looking for Spring inspired ideas to do as a family? We have you covered! If you are also on a budget, even better, as this weeks’ blog is all about having fun with the family without the big price tag. Read on to check out our ideas.

Picnics

Budget friendly and always fun! Let’s face it, once the kids get to run around and spend time with you, it can’t get any better for them. Luckily, Nottinghamshire is full of beautiful picnic spots so break out the picnic hamper, make your favourite sandwiches and snacks and enjoy the Spring sunshine, here are just two places we recommend.

Chalk Designs

Who doesn’t love creating designs with chalk on the tarmac? And the best thing is, it just washes away the next time it rains. If you don’t have chalk already at home, it can be purchased from your nearest pound shop or budget outlet. Cheap, cheerful, loads of fun  and a great afternoon showing off your creations with the kids. To add to this, get a friend or neighbour to judge the best one with a small prize.

Plant a Vegetable Garden

If you can’t wait to get out into the garden this Spring, planting a mini vegetable garden is an excellent way to get the kids involved and interested in gardening. If you have a picky eater or two, hopefully you can convince them to eat their own vegetables at the end of it too! Win win. If you don’t have much space, lettuce and tomatoes are perfect for small pots.

Become Photographers for the Day

The good news is, it doesn’t take a fancy camera to get some amazing photographs these days. Get the family to grab their phones and head off on a nature walk to take some amazing photos. When you return, you could print the best ones at your local library for a few pennies and create a collage or photo album to display at home.

Finally, if none of the above ideas appeal to you and your family, don’t forget to keep an eye on the local library and notice boards who often promote some amazing free events at this time of year.
