It’s that time of year again! Fun, festivities and most of all, some precious time spent with the family. If you are looking for some crafts to do with the kids over the Christmas break to occupy them until Santa can take over, we have you covered!
Mini Card Christmas Trees
These mini Christmas trees are easy, simple to make and will keep the little ones entertained for at least an hour while you get in some sneaky present wrapping time.
Grab some A4 paper or card, use a compass to create a semi-circle, cut out the semi-circle and simply pull the edges together until they meet, secure with sticky tape or glue and hand the tree shaped cone over to the kids; Let them paint it, decorate it with star stickers, pom poms and glitter until they are happy. Hey presto, mini Christmas trees to decorate your home.
Salt Dough Tree Decorations
These hanging decorations will look great on your tree or even double up as unique, handmade gifts for family and friends courtesy of your little artists. To make the salt dough, you will need; 1 cup of salt, 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of lukewarm water – Mix the flour and salt and gradually add the water to form a dough and knead well. Roll out the dough, use cookie cutters to cut the dough into shapes and toothpicks to create festive patterns, add a small hole in the top for hanging. Let the dough dry, paint, decorate and add ribbon or twine to hang.
Homemade Snow Globes
Homemade snow globes are easy to make, cute and will surely get you in the festive spirit! Grab a masonry jar (Use a plastic one if you have smaller children) and glue a plastic figure on the inside of the jar lid. Fill the jar with cold water and add 2 teaspoons of glitter in the colours of your choice, add a couple of drops of glycerine, add more glue to the edge of the lid and screw the lid down. Shake and enjoy!
