When it comes to the UK housing market, information provided by Rightmove can be trusted. According to the leading property portal, some parts of Nottingham have experienced a considerable increase in popularity for property buyers.
Where are buyers looking in Nottingham?
This shouldn’t be a surprise. The lockdown periods have left many people daydreaming of a new home. Also, the stamp duty holiday has encouraged many people to look for a new home. When you add these aspects together, it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that people are looking for homes.
According to Rightmove, Southwell has experienced a 65% increase in property searches. This is an area with great tradition, and it is considered to be an extremely attractive town.
At the end of November 2020, Rightmove said; “Properties in Southwell had an overall average price of £318,661 over the last year. The majority of sales in Southwell during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £396,341. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £233,109, with terraced properties fetching £267,556. Overall, sold prices in Southwell over the last year were 4% down on the previous year and 1% up on the 2017 peak of £314,077.”
Nottingham is attracting buyers
There was also an increase of 54% in searches for Nottingham. Rightmove had this to say about property prices in the area; “Properties around Nottingham had an overall average price of £206,502 over the last year. The majority of sales around Nottingham during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £184,106. Detached properties sold for an average of £309,180, with terraced properties fetching £144,054. Overall, sold prices around Nottingham over the last year were 2% up on the previous year and 8% up on the 2017 peak of £191,382.”
Another area where we have seen considerable interest in of late is Woodthorpe. With three schools in the area, we find this is an excellent location for families who are looking for peaceful surroundings.
Rightmove says; “Properties in Woodthorpe had an overall average price of £276,354 over the last year. The majority of sales in Woodthorpe during the last year were detached properties, selling for an average price of £348,938. Semi-detached properties sold for an average of £248,403, with flats fetching £107,986. Overall, sold prices in Woodthorpe over the last year were 12% up on the previous year and 22% up on the 2017 peak of £226,259.”
