It’s that time of year again. You might be looking forward to the cosy dark evenings and hot chocolates on tap but for the kids, we have the important business of Halloween to get excited about. Here’s how to prepare for the spookiest Halloween ever.
Set the Scene
Halloween is all about the spooky atmosphere so it’s time to decorate your house ready for All Hallows Eve. This doesn’t have to get expensive, get the kids involved and make a rainy afternoon fun by creating your own decorations. Make paper ghosts or spiders by cutting out the shapes on coloured paper, adding pipe cleaner legs and gluing on some googly eyes, cut a hole in the top and hang them around your house with string. Have fun and get creative.
Food & Drink
Baking is always fun for the kids if you add green and red food colouring to the mix! The options are endless. Fairy cakes with green icing and red jelly snakes are always a popular and spooky snack at this time of year, you can also create some ‘blood’ using strawberry sauce.. Add some jelly spiders or eyeballs to green or red jelly as it cools for a spooktacular treat the whole family can enjoy.
Fun and Games
So much Halloween fun can be had with things you already have in the house. Grab the kids and some toilet roll, split into two teams and see who can wrap a ‘mummy’ the quickest. The winners get a spooky treat and the slowest team has to do a spooky dare of the winning teams choice. Spooky bowling is also a fun game. Decorate some empty tin cans into scary characters, stack them up and grab a tennis ball to see who can knock all the tin cans over in one go.
