HOW TO CREATE A NICE OFFICE SPACE AT HOME

How to Create a Nice Office Space at Home

Working from home has dominated the working world in the last few years and it’s looking like it’s here to stay. While we might have made do with the kitchen table and a laptop, with things more permanent now, many people are looking to create a nice working space or home office which is separate from their family life. Here are our tips on how to create your own office space alongside your personal space.

Embrace Your Spare Space

If you don’t have a spare room or garden room you can use as a dedicated office space, you will need to get creative. Small home office spaces can work really well when done right. Do you have a corner of a room you can fit a small desk into? You would be surprised what you can fit into the corner of a kitchen or an alcove, if not, a shelf or a desk which folds back into the wall could be ideal. Look around, think smart and make your space work for you.

Make it Yours

This is your area and one you need to be comfortable in to get the creative juices flowing so make it yours! Could you paint your office a colour you love? Or even the section of wall above your desk? Have everything you need on hand to make your working life easier and add some finishing touches. If you love plants, add one! Want to see your families smiling faces as you work? Frame them and put them on your desk.

Upcycle

Depending on the style in your home, your office doesn’t need to cost a fortune. Upcycling cheap or free items to fit in with the overall look of your home or the office you are trying to create is a lovely, personalised way to make your office space come alive and save a few pennies at the same time. Freecycle groups and sites are a good place to start.

Sitting pretty

Whatever your style, whatever your space and whatever you use your office for, invest in a decent chair for working as this is what will really matter when it comes to sitting and working for many hours each day in comfort.
