The year is flying! Easter is nearly here and amid the Easter egg buying, you are probably looking for some ideas to keep the little ones amused during the Easter break. Here are some Easter craft ideas for the whole family to enjoy!
Easter Peg Eggs
The little ones will LOVE these surprise eggs which reveal a chick inside and they are so easy to make! All you will need is some wooden pegs, glue, some scissors and coloured cardboard.
Draw and cut out an egg shape from the cardboard, draw a jagged line across the middle to create a ‘crack’ in the egg and cut the egg in half using the line as a guide. Grab your peg and glue the two halves of the egg on one side of the peg at the end so the egg ‘hatches when you open it.
Use another piece of card to cut out the shape of a chick with a small tab at the bottom and decorate with eyes and a beak. Glue the chick to the back of the peg behind the egg halves so it is visible when you squeeze open the peg and the egg hatches. Enjoy!
Decoupaged Eggs
These homemade decoupaged eggs will look lovely in an Easter gift basket or as surprise eggs for the garden Easter egg hunt. You will need coloured washi tape or alternatively, some patterned napkins, some hardboiled or plastic eggs, some decoupage glue and a small paintbrush. If you don’t have any decoupage glue, the simple solution is to mix general white craft glue with equal parts water.
Boil as many eggs as you want to decorate and let them cool completely or grab your plastic eggs. If you want to use washi tape, cut it in to pieces and place on the egg wherever you want and finish by brushing with the glue to create a finish.
If you want to use napkins, tear or cut them into small pieces and glue them on to the egg, it might help to place the glue on the egg and add the napkin pieces to it. When you are happy with how your egg looks, add a final layer of glue to finish and let it dry. If you want to add a sparkle to your eggs, add some glitter to your final layer of glue.
