A NEW HOME FOR CHRISTMAS – SETTLING IN OVER THE FESTIVE PERIOD

A New Home For Christmas – Settling in Over the Festive Period

Moving home can be a stressful time in general but moving over the festive period can make things a little bit more exciting, urgent and overwhelming. If you want to get settled into your new home in time to watch the Queen’s speech with a mince pie, read on.

List..Twice!

Having two lists; one for moving and one for Christmas so you don’t get confused or overwhelmed is a good idea and means you can work separately and methodically in the lead up to Christmas and on moving day. List everything from packing to presents and tick off your lists one item at a time.

Online Shopping

From Christmas gifts to the turkey, new home cleaning products and everything in between! Preparing an online shop in advance of your move is a great way to stay ahead. Imagine all the stress melting away as you bring in the last few boxes and the doorbell rings with a delivery from your local supermarket with everything you need.

Gift Early

Consider buying and distributing your gifts to family and friends in advance of your festive move, doing this will ensure no one gets forgotten, you have the time to pick out the perfect gifts and nothing gets lost during your move. If you don’t want to give out gifts too early, is there a family member who will keep the gifts safe at their house whilst you move?

Consider the Weather

Even if the weather forecast looks ok for the time of year, always prepare for a bad turn in the weather and plan your move accordingly. This will save a lot of stress when the time comes. Work out alternative routes and keep in close contact with your removal firm if you have one.

Update Your Address and Prepare

Remember to update your address so there is less chance of your Christmas and Good Luck cards getting lost. Also prepare your Christmas into boxes ready for your departure day. Clearly labelling your tree and decorations and putting them within easy reach in your new home will save some panic as you settle in for Christmas.

Finally, sit back and relax…We wish you a very merry first Christmas in your new home. If you want to talk moving home or even finding your new home this festive period, our friendly team are on hand here.
